Milton Keynes Music  is known for stocking a great range of musical instruments and sheet music. You can hire instruments too, which is great if you only need them for a short recording project or performance. They've really got you sorted for any orchestral instruments like strings, woodwind and percussion, and they also offer servicing and repair facilities for these types of instruments, but they also stock some lovely acoustic guitars and keyboards. You can find the store right outside Wolverton station.

Rock Hard Music is an awesome store for any of you who play live or perform your own music. The super friendly and helpful guys here pride themselves on a bona fide approach of real advice and no hard-sell. This is absolutely the place to go for electric guitars, basses, drum equipment or effects pedals. They also offer PA hire, which is great if you have to run a gig or rehearsal in an unequipped space, and guitar, amp and drum repairs. They even have their own recording and rehearsal space onsite. The space is super comfy and fully equipped with PA, drums and backline amps.

Buskers Coffee Shop is not a music store as such, but we thought this was such a rad idea that it was worth a mention. The shop is actually double award-winning little independent café that supports local music. They hold regular supper clubs where delicious three-course meals are eaten and local buskers provide the music. All their food is made from locally sourced fresh ingredients. It’s a little out of the way and can be hard to find, so make sure you check out their website for more information.

Vintage and Modern Guitars is a little bit further out towards Oxford, but is only 45 minutes drive away, and definitely worth mentioning. Being exactly what it sounds like, Vintage and Modern Guitars is really the perfect specialist store for the electric guitar players. It has some instruments for beginners, but more intermediate and advanced players will have a field day here trying out different sounds from vintage guitars and new models. They also have a great range of acoustics, basses, amps and effects, including a range of vintage effects that look as beautiful as they sound.
